Along with eight other universities of applied sciences, Arcada offers Ukrainians who have fled the war a free-of-charge preparatory programme for higher education. The programme is made possible through the PrepProg project and with support from the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Preparatory Programme for Higher Education Studies in English External link (abbreviated PrepProg) is a collaborative project between nine universities of applied sciences in Finland with the aim of offering Ukrainians, who fled the war and are now in Finland, free-of-charge preparatory studies for higher education. The programme focuses on improving the participants' level of English, strengthening digital and mathematical skills as well as developing academic competencies for the Finnish higher education context. In addition to studies in English, studies in Swedish or Finnish are included at beginner’s level.

"Arcada contributes to the preparatory programme by offering Swedish at beginner’s level. In our mission to conduct socially relevant education for a multicultural Finland, we are proud to be part of this important project and show our support for Ukrainians", says Ulrika Rancken, Head of the Languages unit at Arcada.

The participating universities of applied sciences are Arcada University of Applied Sciences, Karelia University of Applied Sciences (who coordinates the project), LAB University of Applied Sciences, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Oulu University of Applied Sciences, Savonia University of Applied Sciences, South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences, Tampere University of Applied Sciences and Turku University of Applied Sciences.
