Arcada named ”Excellence partner 2017” by Tio UAS

A brand-new award was instituted by Tio University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands this year, with the aim to reward partner universities offering excellent exchange and co-operation opportunities. We are proud to announce that Arcada has been selected as the first ever recipient of the title “Tio Excellence partner of the year”.

Arcada co-operates with more than 90 partner universities and UASs all over the world, and continues its long-term efforts to offer the best possible opportunities for co-operation and knowledge exchange. We are delighted that the leading Dutch university of applied sciences Tio now has chosen to reward Arcada with its first ever “Excellence partner” award.

The award is based on Tio’s students’ and teachers’ experiences during exchanges at partner universities, the number of student exchanges each year and aspects such as the level of service to students, contact with the international office and the flow of information.

”This is an acknowledgement that we as a co-operation partner offer education and co-operation that is attractive also at an administrative level. Tio finds Arcada to be a good partner on many levels – for students on exchange and visiting teachers as well as for the administrative personnel. At Arcada we do our utmost to give exchange students and teachers a warm welcome and to offer an inspiring environment,” says Linn Hongell, Degree programme director for Business Administration and acting Head of the Department of Business Management and Analyticcs.

Hongell, together with Senior Lecturer in Tourism Susanna Fabricius, are currently visiting the Netherlands and Tio’s campuses in Amsterdam and Utrecht, as well as participating in Tio’s annual career event in Nieuwegein. They both find the visit, which will further strengthen the bonds between the two UASs, to be both informative and offer plenty of food for thought.

“It’s inspiring to visit Tio, from where we’ve had so many nice and competent colleagues visiting. It’s exciting to see their campuses and how they work. They for example work in smaller and more personal groups, which is quite different from Arcada’s approach. Another interesting thing is that all teachers, besides working at Tio, also work for companies or are entrepreneurs,” Fabricius says.

There is no age limit for saving lives

Being able to recognise an emergency, call for help and start resuscitation can be the difference between life and death in a sudden cardiac arrest. Arcada University of Applied Sciences participates in the Kids Save Lives project that teaches children how to act in emergency situations.
