Arcada’s new online path enables a smooth transition to on-campus learning for international students

Arcada University of Applied Sciences (UAS) launches a new online path to business and engineering studies.

Through the path, international students can get admitted to the bachelor’s degree programmes International Business and Mechanical and Sustainable Engineering by studying online during autumn 2025. After admission, the students will continue their studies on Arcada's campus in Helsinki starting January 2026.

“The online path to business and engineering studies is designed to lower the threshold for international students to pursue higher education studies in Finland through a structured, teacher-led online programme. It allows students to start their studies from their home country and transition smoothly to on-campus learning upon arrival.” says Susanna Fabricius, vice-dean for the School of Business and Healthcare.

The online path entails 30 ECTS, which are to be completed online during the autumn semester. After completing 15 ECTS the student can get conditionally accepted to one of the bachelor’s programmes, and, provided that they have completed the remaining 15 ECTS, continue their studies on campus in spring semester. The online package includes the same courses as other students take in the business and engineering programmes.

“The online path follows the same structure as the International Business degree programme, ensuring that students progress in line with their peers. By completing courses in digitalisation, sustainability, academic communication, business fundamentals, and research methods, students build a strong foundation for their future studies and professional growth in a Nordic business context.” says Mikael Forsström, Degree Programme Director of International Business.

Rizwan Ullah, Degree Programme Director of Mechanical and Sustainable Engineering, agrees.

“The content of the online path is the same as we have for our on-campus students, ensuring a consistent and high-quality academic experience regardless of where the learning takes place.”

The fee for the online path is €3,500 (autumn semester) and €5,500 for the studies on campus (spring semester). After the first year of studies, regular tuition fees will apply to students who have been admitted through the online path.

The application is open 24 July–4 August 2025For information on how to apply, please visit our Application pages.
