Application process
Here you can find the most frequently asked questions about the application process.
- Arcada uses both separate applications and joint applications for its bachelor's degree programmes in English. In the the separate application are the programmes International Business and Mechanical and Sustainable Engineering whereas the degree programme in Nursing is part of the joint application.
All applications is made through Studyinfo External link. - The separate application to the two bachelor's programmes mentioned above in English is arranged as a continuous application.
- All applicants must prove their skills in English, either at the time of application or in the entrance exam (only for Nursing).

Arcada uses a continuous application to the bachelor's degree programmes in International Business and Mechanical and Sustainable Engineering.
This means that:
1. Arcada has a longer application period
2. Admission is continuous: an applicant can receive an offer as soon as all steps of the application process are passed and complete.
3. Application may close earlier than the given application period, in case all vacant study places have already been filled.
To be eligible to apply you need one of the following educations:
- Finnish Matriculation examination or/and Finnish upper secondary education, EB, IB or Reifeprüfung examination;
- Finnish upper secondary vocational education;
- A non-Finnish degree or qualification which gives eligibility for higher education in the degree awarding country; or
- Higher education degree.
Please note, that applicants to Arcada’s degree programme in Nursing must have at least B1. level skills in either Swedish or Finnish to be eligible to apply.

To apply you need:
- An education with certificates/diplomas that give you eligibility for higher education.
- Proof of skills in English. If you apply to our Nursing programme your English language skills will be tested in the entrance exam, in all other cases you must prove your skills when you apply.
- An accepted SAT score, if you decide on applying through this selection method.

No, unfortunately we do not accept late applications. The only option is to apply in the next application.
To be eligible to apply to Arcada’s master’s degree programmes, an applicant must have a suitable bachelor’s degree in the specific field and a minimum of two years (24 months) of suitable work experience gained after the completion of the bachelor’s degree.

Bachelor's degrees
Scholarships are usually granted for year two studies onwards, and based on student's study achievements during the previous year.

Master's degrees
Arcada does not grant scholarships to master’s students.
No, unfortunately there are no scholarships for the first year. However, we do offer an "early bird deal" for the first academic year, which means that an admitted student can receive a 4,000 € discount on the tuition fee for the first academic year by bindingly accepting the study place offer at Arcada within 14 days. The early bird offer does not apply to the Nursing programme. Other restrictions may apply.

Language skills

Yes, you do if you apply to International Business and Mechanical and Sustainable Engineering. Read more here.
If you apply to Nursing, your English language skills will be tested in the entrance exam. Applicants to Arcada’s Nursing programme must have at least B1 level skills in Swedish or Finnish to apply.
Applicant must indeed have skills level B1 on the European framework for languages in either Finnish or Swedish when applying to the Nursing programme.
The language skills are required, as the students go on practical training during the first year, and must be able to communicate with clients.
Student selection and entrance exams

That depends. If you apply to our Nursing programme, you must take the International UAS exam to be considered for admission.
If you apply to our programmes in Mechanical and Sustainable Engineering or International Business you can choose to apply through an entrance exam and interview + language certificate OR based on a SAT test and language requirements. If you apply based a SAT test, you do not need to take part in any entrance exam.
If you apply to our Master programmes, the student selection process varies but is never an entrance exam. Instead students are selected based on motivational letter, video, international admissions tests such as GRE or GMAT, or other selection methods. Please see the detailed information for each programme.
