4Q Collaboration: ZekkiPro – A New Digital Tool for Monitoring Student Wellbeing
Published: 29.08.2025 / Partnerships
ZekkiPro is a digital self-assessment tool for wellbeing, developed by Diaconia University of Applied Sciences (Diak). It is currently in use at Diak to monitor student wellbeing and is now being extended to other partner institutions within the 4Q collaboration.
The 4Q network, consisting of Arcada University of Applied Sciences, Diak, Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK), and Humak University of Applied Sciences, is now implementing ZekkiPro to support the systematic follow-up of student wellbeing.
“Student wellbeing has a significant impact on academic performance, graduation rates, and employability. However, it is not always monitored systematically, regularly, or in a comparable way,” says Liisa Björklund, Senior Specialist at Diak.
ZekkiPro provides students with a tool to monitor and improve their own wellbeing. In practice, it offers a quick and easy-to-use questionnaire. Based on their responses, students receive insights into their current situation, wellbeing, and study ability, along with information about available support services. The tool also provides personalized recommendations tailored to each student’s needs.
“The goal is to offer the right kind of support as early as possible, so that problems don’t arise or escalate,” says Björklund.
For higher education institutions, ZekkiPro offers up-to-date and comparable data on student wellbeing and support needs, as well as validated data to help develop support services. The collected data can also be linked to quality assurance systems.
At Arcada, the psychologist Maria Höglund is responsible for the implementation of the tool. She welcomes the initiative:
“We need a tool to follow up on student wellbeing in order to support them in the best possible way and identify those most in need of help. Through ZekkiPro, we hope to bring more structure and evaluation to the support we offer. In the long term, we also hope to further develop our services,” says Maria Höglund.
4Q is a collaboration initiated by four universities of applied sciences – Diak, Arcada, Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK), and the Humak University of Applied Sciences – with the aim of strengthening cooperation between higher education institutions. The four-year project is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
