Arcada's research in trustworthy artificial intelligence is further strengthened by the UAS’s new affiliated professor. Elisabeth Hildt is professor of philosophy and her area of research is the ethical aspects of science and technology.

Professor Elisabeth Hildt is Director of the Center for the Study of Ethics in the Professions, Illinois Institute of Technology. She holds a PhD from the University of Tübingen and her expertise lies in social and ethical implications of science and technology, bioethics, and technology and society.

– I find Arcada particularly interesting as an interdisciplinary UAS with many industries represented. My own area of expertise with a focus on ethical aspects fits well into Arcada's research in trustworthy artificial intelligence. I see several interesting opportunities for collaboration and development, says Hildt.

Artificial intelligence is one of Arcada’s core fields of research and something Arcada is investing big in. The Laboratory for Trustworthy AI at Arcada is a transdisciplinary and international research community. The lab connects academia and society, including developers of AI solutions, students, end-users, researchers, and stakeholders.

Artificial intelligence will have a major impact on all societal functions in the future and therefore systems must be safe and resilient to use. Arcada advocates the ethical use of artificial intelligence and conducts research in areas such as healthcare, where many questions have been raised about ethics and trust.

– It is a great asset for Arcada to collaborate with Elisabeth Hildt, who is a pioneer in applied ethics. Her expertise will further strengthen Arcada's research and teaching on AI and ethical issues, particularly in healthcare, says Henrika Franck, Dean of Arcada Graduate School and Research.

Elisabeth Hildt is the third affiliated professor at Arcada.
