Arcada becomes shareholder in Funidata

Arcada is the first university of applied sciences to join Funidata Oy as a partner. As a shareholder, Arcada gets access to a new digital support system for teaching and studies.

Arcada is the first university of applied sciences to choose the Sisu system developed by Funidata as their main system for its teaching and studies. Other owners of Funidata are Aalto University, Hanken, Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT and the Universities of Helsinki, Jyväskylä and Tampere.

"Our choice of the Sisu system and joining Funidata as a partner is based on careful consideration between available alternatives, and we are now more than happy to be able to begin the cooperation," says Arcada's Rector and CEO Mona Forsskåhl. "Funidata is a strong and credible player in the higher education sector and we see that its role in the future will become even more important, as the coordination of study register solutions has now also begun at a national level."

Forsskåhl states that the standardised and secure SaaS solutions that the Sisu system offers are the best conditions for the established collaboration that Arcada already has with several of the current partners.

“In the long term, we see that the system constitutes a basis for smooth educational cooperation also with other actors. As a small university of applied sciences, we need to find common and standardised digital solutions, and with our participation in Funidata, we are getting that.”

As Funidata's shareholder, Arcada will have access to all of Funidata's services, the most significant of which is currently the teaching and learning system Sisu for students, teachers and service personnel. It is already used by about 60 percent of Finnish university students.

"Having Arcada on board is an important step for us towards a significant role in the sector of national and international higher education," says Mika Peura, CEO of Funidata Oy. "Our goal is to harmonise and automate processes and provide a sector-wide service as a SaaS solution."

Funidata Oy will continue to develop its services closely together with the owner universities. The Sisu system and other services that support it facilitate cooperation between universities and meet the future requirements of teaching and learning.
