Building a career in finance: meet Arcada alumna Nguyen Ho

From Arcada’s International Business programme to Nordic Investment Bank, Nguyen Ho has turned her passion for finance into a thriving career. Today, she helps keep transactions running smoothly while drawing on the teamwork, expertise and confidence she built during her studies.
We checked in with International Business alumni Nguyen Ho to hear what she is up to today and what impact her studies at Arcada has had on her career.
What did you study at Arcada?
'I graduated in 2021 from International Business with the Degree of Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in finance management.'
What do you do for work and what qualities are needed in your work?
'At the moment, I am working as a Business Support Officer (Back office) at Nordic Investment Bank, located in Helsinki. To fulfil my position, a good knowledge of basic finance as well as good time management and cooperation skills are needed.'
What is the most rewarding about your work?
'In my daily work, making sure that every transaction goes smoothly is the biggest responsibility and reward. I also have the opportunity to learn from many experts and colleagues everyday. Additionally, I really enjoy the work-life balance culture in Finland.'
Which of the skills and competencies that you gained at Arcada have been the most valuable?
'Studying at Arcada helped me achieve my goal and get my first job. We studied principles of economics, finance management and also did many group projects and exercises during the academic years, which promoted teamwork, collaboration and deadline commitment. Moreover, the teachers and other staff are very friendly. I could come for questions at any time, which I really appreciated.'
Do you have a message for those who are studying now?
'To all the fellow students: Enjoy your time studying and making friends to the fullest. Equip yourself with all the necessary knowledge and also soft skills in order to be confident in future work life. Sometimes, making mistakes is unavoidable, but as long as you learn from them, everything will be fine.'
