Arcada University of Applied Sciences is now launching the fundraising campaign ”Tomorrow’s heroes – Made by Arcada”. Since the beginning of the year Arcada has raised 2 million euro in donations. The foundation Brita Maria Renlunds minne sr (one million euro), the foundation Tre Smeder (500,000 euro), the association Föreningen Konstsamfundet r.f. (400,000 euro) and the foundation Aktiastiftelsen i Esbo-Grankulla (100,000 euro) have shown their support for Arcadas fundraising initiative.

Arcada’s fundraising campaign remains active 2018–2019. The aim of the campaign is to strengthen Arcada’s dedicated and long-term endeavours to promote sustainable development, bilingualism and diversity in society. The government has reserved 24 million euro in co-funding to match the funds that universities of applied sciences raise during 2018.

The funds will be added to Arcada’s basic capital and the returns on the capital will be used to develop Arcada’s operations.

“The fundraising campaign gives us the opportunity to increase Arcada’s external financing. The donations open for significant advances within research and innovations, and supports initiatives to further strengthen the education we offer,” Arcada’s rector, professor Henrik Wolff, says.

The fundraising has been met by a warm reception and led to many new contacts being made.

“We are very grateful for the confidence shown in Arcada and the donations that we’ve received, and also happy about the interest that our alumni and co-operation partners are showing. We hope for a wide support for our fundraising,” Wolff continues.

The foundation Brita Maria Renlunds minne has made a significant donation of one million euro. CEO Gun Sandberg-Wallin states that Arcada makes valuable contributions within education, which benefits society.

“We are happy to support education within the field of social and health care, where the need for Swedish-speaking employees is great. Arcada’s alumni are sought-after on the labour market thanks to their wide and versatile competencies,” Sandberg-Wallin says.

The foundation Tre Smeder sees Arcada as a dynamic and forward-thinking UAS, and through their donation they want to support Arcada’s possibilities to continue to offer high-quality education and focus on innovations.

“The labour market is in need of entrepreneurial, critically thinking and internationally-minded experts,” chairman of the board Håkan Mattlin says.

Christina Gestrin, chairman of the board for Aktiastiftelsen i Esbo-Grankulla emphasises that the foundation is happy to support Arcada’s wide range of educational fields.

“It’s important that high-quality education in Swedish is offered in the capital area,” Gestrin says.

To support the fundraising campaign Arcada has appointed a campaign committee consisting of Stefan Ahlman, Martin Backman, Joanna Danielsson, Nella Ginman-Tjeder, Leif Hagelstam, Robin Hallberg, Jerker Hartwall, Birgitta Langenskiöld, Pekka Lundmark, Carl Johan Schauman, Mikael Swanljung and Sebastian Östman. The committee is led by vice chairman of the Arcada Foundation, Carola Teir-Lehtinen. The fundraising campaign’s steering committee is led by senior industrialist Stig Gustavson.
