A significant increase in students graduating from Arcada during 2017

2017 saw a significant increase in students graduating from Arcada. A total of 457 students graduated from Arcada’s bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes in social and health care, sports, technology, business, media and culture.

The 457 graduates of 2017 represent an increase of 42 compared to the previous year, and returns the numbers to the same level as of the record year of 2015. Of the graduating students 422 completed bachelor’s degrees, while the amount of master’s degree graduates continued its steady increase to a record number of 35.

The newly graduated students are celebrated at Arcada during the graduation ceremony on 19 January 2018. For Rector Henrik Wolff, this is the last time he addresses the new alumni before he retires in May.
“We are very happy that Arcada’s determined efforts to offer all students high-quality education and an engaging and encouraging study environment bear fruit,” Wolff says. “Especially since the graduates leaving Arcada are so well-prepared for the labour market of both today and tomorrow. As a university of applied sciences it’s an important part of our mission to prepare our students for an ever-changing future, where the ability to adapt to change and to find sustainable solutions to future challenges is just as important, if not even more important, than the practical skills that they have gain.”

231 of the 457 graduates from last year did so with degrees within the fields of sports or social and health care, 53 within culture and media, 35 within technology and 138 students within business.

Today Arcada offers 17 degree programmes at a bachelor’s level (3 in English and 14 in Swedish). The interest in master’s degree studies continues to rise. During 2017 Arcada introduced two new master’s degree programmes in Mental Health and Real Estate Energy, and they will be joined by the new master’s degree programme in Big Data Analytics this autumn. This brings the total number of master’s degree programmes up to 10 (6 in English and 4 in Swedish).
