The short film Death of a Boy received two awards in the film festival Love & Anarchy's competition for domestic short films in September. The Arcada production won the Audience Award and the Special mention from the Judges.

Death of a Boy is one of the final productions made at Arcada’s degree programme in film and media this spring. Director Basha Troni, student in film and media, says that he never could have imagined this.

– This beat all our expectations. Winning the award for the Audience's favorite tells us that we have managed to create something credible and that there is a demand for similar productions. The fact that we also were rewarded with the Special mention from the Judges feels fantastic.

Troni says that he has not previously heard that a Fenno-Swedish student production has won an award at Love & Anarchy. The film was one of 34 short films selected for the national competition Cut to the Chase – R&A Shorts.

– It feels incredible to win two prizes! It tells us that the audience really liked the story. The film has so much energy and director Basha Troni manages to create a very captivating world. As a film maker, it feels good to know that you have succeeded, says the producer Saxby Young, student in film and media.

Love & Anarchy gathered 40,000 visitors this year. The film Death of a Boy was shown during two sold-out screenings.
