Notice to Arcada employees and students concerning possible coronavirus exposure

Published: 23.09.2020 / Campus

Several coronavirus infections (COVID-19) have been found at Arcada University of Applied Sciences during last week. The people known to have been exposed through close contact have been contacted and quarantined by the City of Helsinki Epidemiologic Operations Unit.

Students and staff that have visited the Arcada campus may have been exposed to the coronavirus infection, and they are advised to monitor their condition very closely during the next two weeks and get tested immediately if they develop even mild symptoms. They must remain home while they wait for the results. They should avoid close contact with elderly people and those at risk until they have received a negative test result and no longer exhibit symptoms. The use of a face mask will reduce the risk of infection in situations where it is not possible to ensure that safe distances can be maintained.

The symptoms include intermittently elevated body temperature, fever, coughing, headache, muscle ache, a sore throat, a runny nose, shortness of breath, loss of the sense of smell and taste, nausea, diarrhoea and abnormal fatigue.

A coronavirus symptom assessment can be performed at www.omaolo.fi.
