This training course provides you with a basic understanding of gender diversity and how to create a safe, respectful and inclusive environment within the healthcare sector. The course covers key concepts and provides practical tools for communicating with patients of different gender identities. You will also gain an understanding of the ethical and legal principles that underpin equal care and equal treatment in patient care.

The course is aimed at healthcare professionals and students, as well as others who wish to develop their skills in providing inclusive and equitable care for patients with different gender identities.

What you will learn

Upon completion of the course, you will have the knowledge and practical skills to interact with patients of different gender identities in a respectful, safe and professional manner within the healthcare sector. You will be able to adopt an inclusive approach and work in accordance with ethical and legal principles for equal care.

The project Functional ability for older adults – Work ability for staff (TOTY) has been selected as one of the winners of the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health's national innovation competition, The Future of Care Work. The innovation is an operating model based on reablement, offering dual benefits: older adults receive support to live more independently at home, while social and healthcare professionals with partial work ability are given the opportunity to continue working within the sector.
