Pedagogy Day with Barbara Oakley

Welcome to Pedagogy Day and listen to the teaching expert Barbara Oakley, who will give a lecture entitled Uncommon Sense teaching. The lecture is free of charge and open to all.
The Pedagogy Day is held at Arcada University of Applied Sciences and starts with Barbara Oakleys lecture Uncommon Scence teaching in the Big Auditorium at 9:15-12:00.
You can choose to attend the lecture only or one or more workshops in the afternoon.
The themes of the lecture:
- Strategies to keep students motivated and engaged, especially when it comes to online teaching.
- How to help students memorise information long-term, so that it is not forgotten immediately after the exam.
- How to lecture inclusively in a diverse classroom where students have a wide range of abilities.
In the afternoon there is the opportunity to take part in three workshops with Barbara Oakley.
13:15-14:00 Open session with Barbara Oakley, where she presents and discusses her books in the library.
14:15-15:00 Group discussion with Barbara Oakley on "A Mind for Numbers - How to Excel at Math and Science".
15:15-16:00 Group discussion with Barbara Oakley on online teaching.
