A new career center will begin operations in Arabianranta, Helsinki next week. Karriärcenter Arabia, which is launched by Arcada, Prakticum and Sveps, will offer versatile councelling services in Swedish for young people and adults.

Karriärcenter Arabia External link will offer career planning, counselling and service guidance in Swedish for young people and adults. A broad target group can here get all their services from one and the same place, in Swedish. The center is launched in collaboration between Arcada University of Applied Sciences, the secondary vocational institution Prakticum and youth service provider Sveps.

– We see career planning as a broad concept that begins when you think about what study choices you make, the continuation into working life and at a later stage possibly back to studies again. We do not limit the target group to only young people, but the common denominator for our services is that they have a connection to studies and from studies further into working life, says Annika Stadius, Manager of Counselling and Student Well-being at Arcada.

The center will also offer guidance on study opportunities in Swedish for immigrants who choose to integrate with Swedish as their first language.

– I am particularly pleased that we now have a broad cooperation network around the Swedish services in the capital region, where cooperation with municipalities, the third sector and other educational actors is strong, says Stadius.

The Career Center officially opens with a launch week 19–22.4.2021. External link During the week, the center offers a preview of their services in the form of a series of webinars focusing on, among other things, writing a CV, job opportunities in the Nordic region and how to proceed if you are without a study place. To begin with, the center offers its services remotely, but the aim is to be able to physically open the career center by autumn. The center will be located on Arcada's campus.

– Different types of events and webinars will continue to be part of the career center's services. We will inform about various opportunities for continuous learning to improve employability via several channels, says Lotta Sjöblom, service manager at Prakticum.
