Arcada’s new sports hall granted 750 000 euro by the Ministry och Education and Culture

“This donation shows that we are doing the right things,” Henrik Wolff, Managing Director of the Arcada foundations, says. The sports hall “Arcadahallen” is one of 29 projects that were granted governmental funding during 2018, and the modern facilities will also support e.g. the country’s top athletes.

The sports hall answers to a need for versatile indoor sports facilities in the capital area.
“There is a severe lack of sports halls today, at the same time as top-level sports becomes more concentrated to larger cities, and the metropolitan area in particular,” Wolff says.

A unique contribution

The Arcada Foundation’s chairperson Astrid Thors is also very grateful for all the hard work that has made the donation to the sports hall a reality.
“Now our challenge is to ensure that this important complement to Arcada’s campus in Arabainranta benefits as many as possible,” Thors says.

Arcadahallen is not meant to be used by only Arcada’s students, but also by sports associations and individuals who are welcome to use the facilities during evenings and weekends.

The construction of the sports hall is going according to schedule, and it’s expected to be ready in January of 2019. Besides the sports hall the new building on Byholmsgränden in Helsinki consists of Fastighets Ab Majsporten, with its 103 student flats.
