Jag tog en B.Sc. i fysik (2005) och fortsatte med studier till M.Sc. i fysik (2007), båda vid National University of Colombia. Senare flyttade jag till Spanien där han tog en M.Sc. i nanoteknologi (2009) och en Ph.D. i beräkningsbaserad materialvetenskap (2013), båda vid University of the Basque Country. Efter tre års postdoktoral forskning (2013-2016) vid Aalto-universitetet (Finland) där jag undersökte de optiska och strukturella egenskaperna hos DNA som interagerar med metalliska nanopartiklar på kvantnivå, bytte jag forskningsintresse till området maskininlärning, Big Data och artificiell intelligens.
Från augusti 2017 till 2019 arbetade jag på Arcada som forskare och föreläsare. I januari 2020 utsågs jag till universitetslektor i Big Data Analytics och 2023 befordrades jag till universitetslektor i teknik. Sedan 2022 är jag också programansvarig för masterprogrammet i Big Data Analytics.
Jag har ett mycket brett forskningsintresse som omfattar, men inte är begränsat till, områden som autonoma intelligenta maskiner, utvinning av stora datamängder, klustring av tidsserier, kausalitet, kvantmaskininlärning, extrema inlärningsmaskiner, kreativa maskiner, filosofi om artificiell intelligens, datorseende, djup förstärkningsinlärning bland många andra.
