Course overview

This course is divided into four parts that introduce key concepts and applications of virtual healthcare. You will begin with an introduction to virtual care in the welfare sector, followed by the role of virtual rehabilitation. The course then explores virtual care, virtual hospitals and the principles of a person-centred approach. In the final part, you will learn about virtual hospital care delivered in the home environment.

It is suitable for those interested in person-centred care, virtual rehabilitation and new ways of delivering services in the home environment. The course is also ideal for professionals who want to better understand the opportunities and challenges of digital solutions in practice.

You will gain a solid understanding of key concepts such as virtual care, virtual rehabilitation, the virtual hospital at home and person-centred care. You will learn how digital solutions can be applied in healthcare and rehabilitation, while recognising both their opportunities and limitations in practice. The course also helps you develop a proactive and forward-looking approach to virtual services, with a focus on supporting patients’ independence and improving the quality of care through person-centred practices.

Study format and schedule

Study flexibly from anywhere. This non-stop course is delivered entirely online. The study period runs from 1 November 2026 to 31 July 2027.

This course may be taken independently or as part of the e‑Health and Virtual Care Rehabilitation courses. 

Please note that there is no separate registration form for the course. Participants wishing to attend only this course are welcome to register via the registration forms on the course page for Virtual Care Rehabilitation.
