Digital twin services and cooperation

We develop digital twins for infrastructure and other connected systems, helping organisations test scenarios, optimise operations and make better decisions through data, simulation and AI.

Systems we build digital twins for

We develop digital twins for energy, mobility and other connected infrastructure systems.

District heating and cooling networks

Heating and cooling networks are shaped by the weather, customer demand, the physical limits of the pipes and the price of the energy used to produce heat. A twin lets operators see how supply temperatures, flows and pressures would respond to a change in the production plan. It can compare alternatives, such as shifting production from gas to electric boilers when electricity is cheap, and help prepare for peak demand without putting security of supply at risk.

Electrical distribution networks

Distribution grids are absorbing new kinds of load and generation, from heat pumps and electric vehicles to rooftop solar. A twin of the network helps operators understand how power flows and where constraints are likely to appear. It can be used to study the effect of outages or new connections, and to plan reinforcement with greater confidence.

Public transportation systems

In a transport network, vehicles, timetables, routes and passenger demand all influence one another. A twin makes it possible to test a new timetable or route change, to see how a disruption would spread through the system, and to find better ways of using the fleet already in service.

Other connected systems

The same method applies to other systems with a similar structure: many connected parts, reliable operational data and a clear decision worth improving. If your system fits that description, we would be glad to hear from you.

How a project works

  1. We begin with your team, agreeing on the decision the twin should support and how success will be measured.
  2. We gather your operational data and draw on the knowledge of the engineers who know the system best.
  3. We build the twin and validate it against measured outcomes before it is used for anything operational.
  4. Once validated, the twin is used to run scenarios and support decisions, with your team remaining in control throughout.
  5. As your system evolves, we retrain the twin so that it continues to reflect reality.

Why work with a university of applied sciences

Working with a university is quite different from buying from a software vendor. You gain access to current research in AI and simulation, applied to a problem that matters to your organisation. Our aim is to demonstrate, through honest and measurable results, that the approach works in practice, and we have no interest in selling you more than you need.

Partners who join us at this stage also have a real say in how the technology develops, and they are among the first to benefit as it matures.

Get in touch

If you operate a heating or cooling network, an electricity distribution grid or a public transport system, and would like to explore what a digital twin could do for you, we would be pleased to hear from you.
