- I graduated from Arcada and the Degree Programme in Elderly Care in 2011, but after working a few years I realized I wanted to broaden my competences. I chose Open Path studies in nursing, because I wanted to be able to take more responsibility at work and for that I needed to study medicine. Open Path studies are a great opportunity and I’m really motivated to work hard, because when I’ve gained enough credits I can be admitted as a degree student. I really love my job at a retirement home and my clients keep asking when I’m coming back, but first I want to achieve my dream.
- About a year ago I went through a small crisis, when realizing I still hadn’t decided what I wanted to do when I grew up. It felt like the right time to start studying, but when I found the right degree programme for me, the application period was already over. That’s why I went for Open path studies. Another reason was that I also wanted to be able to continue working, so this was a way of compromising between working and being a full-time student. I love Materials Processing Technology and I’m having so much fun at my programme. Arcada offers a nice, friendly and flexible study environment.
If you are interested in Open Studies at Arcada there are two alternatives to choose from. You can choose between Open Path Studies or Individual Open Studies (courses).
Please note that if you are a degree student at Arcada you can’t simultaneously be registered as an Open Studies student at Arcada.
Open Path Studies give you a unique opportunity to find out what studying at a higher education level feels like. The Open Path is an opportunity designed for you who are aiming at graduating from one of Arcada’s Bachelor’s degree programmes in the future. You can participate in Open Path Studies at Arcada within the following degree programmes: Nursing (BA), International Business (BA) and Materials Processing Technology (BA).

Individual Open Studies give you an opportunity to expand your knowledge in subjects you have a strong interest in. If you want to expand your knowledge, learn a new subject, language or want to get a feel for studying (BA and/or MA) at a university of applied sciences – Individual Open Studies courses might be just the opportunity for you.
