Liikesivistysrahasto donates 35,000 euros and the foundation Tre Smeder makes an additional donation of 300,000 euros to Arcada. With this contribution, Liikesivistysrahasto wants to support the development of Finnish companies' competitiveness and the economic development in Finland in the long term. With its supplementary donation, Tre Smeder wants to secure a development that favours a versatile and high quality higher education in Swedish in the metropolitan area.

The donation from Liikesivistysrahasto is directed at the business education at Arcada. The amount donated is based on employment among graduates, RDI activities, as well as internationalisation.

"The goals set by Arcada for its fundraising campaign go hand in hand with Liikesivistysrahastos focus areas. For us, the renewal of industry and business organisations is central”, says Johanna Vesterinen, CEO of Liikesivistysrahasto.

Tre Smeder, for its part, wants to support both business and society as a whole through a viable and innovative higher education sector.

"In our view it is vital to have high quality higher education offered in Swedish in the capital region. Arcada meets the quality requirements in all areas and it is an important part of the higher education offering. Arcada is an active player in society and responds to the needs of the surrounding society. It represents a future-oriented mindset that certainly appeals to both students and the business community as well as to society at large. This way of thinking is well exmplified by Arcada’s vision “Innovative thinking for the sustainable development of society” says Nina Wilkman, Chair of the Tre Smeder Foundation.

The generous donations are greatly valued by Arcada .

"We are extremely happy and grateful for this vote of confidence. These donations highlight the broad appreciation both our education and research enjoy today. They enable us to continue thinking about develop our activities", Rector Mona Forsskåhl states.

The fundraising campaign Tomorrow's heroes - Made by Arcada ends in December 2018. The collected funds will strengthen Arcada’s goal-oriented work for sustainable education and research at the forefront.
