Are you looking for an opportunity to take a step forward in your career in a field where you can really make a difference? The welfare state is facing great challenges. Problems and questions concerning social inclusion, democracy, integration and the organisation of social services are central to the current welfare debate. Established institutions, services and practices must be reformed and renewed in order to be able to prevent marginalisation and exclusion and in order to meet the needs and demands of the people. The Social Services degree programme provides you with skills that are attractive in the labour market and prepares you for taking on a leadership or expert role in the welfare sector.
The degree programme focuses on social work for change, in which social and pedagogical knowledge are central elements. As a student, you will gain in-depth knowledge of the conditions and processes in late-modern society that affect people's living conditions and participation. The focus is on strategies for identifying problems, developing resources and reforming living conditions through social mobilisation, empowerment and preventive and supportive change management, for example. You will also get the opportunity to deepen your leadership skills and participate in Arcada’s ground-breaking research, development and innovation work.
The studies can be completed in 2–4 years as part-time studies or in 1½ years as full-time studies. They therefore constitute an exciting opportunity for those who want to study alongside a full-time job. All courses are web-based.
