Tourism in a changing world (30 ECTS)

This study package consist of six highly relevant tourism and hospitality courses á 5 ECTS. You can also choose to sign-up for the courses separetely.  All courses can be taken entirely online, with optional campus attendance for workshops if desired. The studies are mainly designed for people who already have some knowledge of tourism, meaning either work experience or previous studies from tourism or the hospitality industry.

The courses are:

---- Hospitality Management

By the end of the course you will understand how to plan and sell services by customer segment within the hospitality industry. You will be able to analyse results and make improvements to maximize profit. 


---- Tourism in a Contemporary World

In this course we look at tourism both as a societal phenomenon and as a global industry. We focus on the definitions, concepts and frameworks that underpin the study of contemporary tourism, keeping in mind the importance of sustainable development. We will also review the latest reports, studies and estimations regarding tourism during and after COVID-19.  


---- Environmental and Social Responsibility within Tourism and Hospitality

In order to understand the importance of environmental management and socio-cultural responsibility within the field of tourism, it is essential to understand the big picture of sustainable tourism. The course starts with an introduction to sustainable tourism, after which the focus will be on the environmental and social impact of the tourism industry. We will also go through different management tools for managing the impacts in a responsible way. 


---- Distribution Channels

This course offers a comprehensive picture of the different types of distribution channels in the travel industry. Are you interested in getting a wide perspective on developments in this area? Then we highly recommend this course! 


---- Destination Management 

Do you want to understand Destination Management, the role of Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) and how they work with different kinds of stakeholders? Then this course is for you! 

The course will give you in-depth knowledge of how to manage tourism destinations in a sustainable way and broaden your understanding of destination management operations.  


---- Digital Service Development 

This course will introduce you to digital business development in the context of tourism. By using the design sprint method and design thinking, you will be able to introduce a new service to the market. After the completion of the course, you will know what it takes to create a positive customer experience with a goal to deliver real value at every single customer touchpoint.
