Paramedics help people in emergency situations. You should be in good physical condition, you should be able to work under pressure and able to focus on the tasks at hand.
Paramedics are responsible for the care of patients of all ages regardless of culture and religion, give the patient and their closest family support, information and guidance. Within emergency care, you have to be able to make quick decisions and work in teams with doctors, the police and the emergency services, amongst others. As you are a part of the emergency team responding to accidents and catastrophes, it is vital that you have a command of Finnish and English as well as Swedish.
After having trained in simulated situations in Arcada's Patient Safety and Learning Centre and in the field, graduates of Arcada's Emergency Care programme are attractive professionals in the labour market. The training also provides a good basis for work abroad.
Those who complete the degree programme i Emergency Care also become registered nurses. The Emergency Care degree includes core knowledge of nursing. The basic values and ethical principles of care, as well as laws and regulations govern the work of paramedics.
