Selection of students to International Business Management, full-time and part-time studies


When applying to this programme, either the full-time or the part-time option,  you must select which of the following two application methods you wish to be considered through:

1) GMAT-test or GRE test + motivation letter + video

Arcada's GMAT code is  2523. You should order your GMAT score to arrive directly to Arcada.


Applicants should have a minimum test score of 500 points in the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Corresponding test scores in the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) may be used, with a minimum of 150 points for each of quantitative and verbal reasoning skills; for conversion use:


Please make sure you take the test in time! The recommendation is to take the test at least 1 month before you submit your application.


Motivation letter

  • Explaining the applicant’s reasons for applying to this programme, including a presentation of the applicant and how the applicant sees the programme support his/her future career, and how he/she envisions the world of business to change in the foreseeable future. The applicant is also requested to elaborate on his/her study and communication skills as these are a prerequisite for success in master's level studies.

    The motivation letter may not exceed 2 pages (use Times New Roman 12, line spacing 1.2, justified text). It may give the applicant up to 60 points and it is assessed with a focus on:
    • Writing and presentation skills
    • General knowledge of the field
    • Interest and suitability for the programme


Personal Motivation Video (3-5 minutes)

  • Introducing the applicant, his/her prior studies and relevant work and/or other experiences, including a discussion on some business-related topic of specific interest to the applicant. The video may give the applicant up to 40 points, and it is assessed with a focus on:
    • Spoken presentation skills
    • General knowledge of the field
    • Interest and suitability for the programme

To be accepted into the programme the applicant needs a minimum of 60 points, a minimum for each part is 40/60 points of the motivational letter and 20/40 points of the video.

The motivation letter and the video should be uploaded to the application along with other required documents within 7 days of submitting the application.

2 ) Entrance exam at Arcada

Entrance exam at Arcada on 7th April 2020.

The entrance examination to the master's degree programme in International Business Management contains both a written and an oral part. Applicants will be assessed on the content of the answers and the quality of the oral and written skills in English.

More information on the entrance exam will be given in the invitation letter sent to the eligible applicants who have chosen to be considered through this application method.



There are 20 study places in the master's degree programme in International Business Management. Study places may be flexibly shifted between the full-time and part-time option, depending on the amount of applications each one attracts. If either one fails to attract a sufficient number of applications, Arcada reserves the right to cancel that option.
