Plastics Technology
The Plastics Technology programme trains students for careers as engineers in Finnish and international companies. The programme focuses on the use of plastics in the production of products. Students will learn to work both independently and as members of multinational teams.
The student will come to understand the technical and economical considerations of the plastics industry. He/She will be able to select the best materials for the different plastic products and manufacturing processes. Students will produce plastic products with such processes as extrusion and injection moulding and understand the connection between operating parameters and output. The student will learn to use engineering software such as AutoCAD, Solid Edge, Mastercam and Moldflow in the design process.
Studies include 30 credits of basic studies, 130 credits of core competence studies, 30 credits of work practice and 20 credits for thesis and methodology. The student must also complete 30 credits in extension studies. Each module consists of a minimum of 15 credits in the same study specialization. The modules offered within Arcada include Business Administration, Languages, Electrical Engineering and Entrepreneurship.
