The Patient Safety and Learning Center recognized as a Centre of Excellence

On 26 November 2009, the Finnish Higher Education Evaluation Council (FINHEEC) announced the Centres of Excellence among the universities of applied sciences during the years 2010-2012. The Patient Safety and Learning Center of Arcada was one of centres recognized.

The status merits financial support from the Ministry of Education.

Among the 31 written presentations delivered, the evaluation group chose to evaluate 16 universities of applied sciences. Eight of these were then recognized as Centres of Excellence. The evaluation group has, among other things, focused on how well student cooperation and cooperation with working life functions within the units. Furthermore, the evaluation group rated the ability of the educational units to adapt the education to the challenges of working life. The units were evaluated both on an activity and a result basis. The results will be published in the series of publications by FINHEEC on 13 January 2010.
