Physiotherapy
The study programme in physiotherapy provides the student with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to deal with people of different ages and life situations, in order to encourage them to take advantage of their resources to live a meaningful life.
Scientific knowledge and practical experience, ethical rules, and a holistic view of the individual guide the performance of duties. The basic premise is that it is important for people to be active and independent.
The physiotherapist works to maintain and improve the ability of both healthy and sick individuals, the physically handicapped and sportsmen, to move, work, and carry out functional activities. The individual is supported in making the best use of his resources in his own surroundings.
The work requires competence in counselling and teaching, therapeutic training, manual and physical therapy, and a knowledge of the relevant physical aids. The physiotherapist, acting independently or as a member of a rehabilitation team, is involved in rehabilitation and different types of service and health promoting activities, as well as serving as a physiotherapy and rehabilitation consultant in planning, development and expert assignments. Work opportunities exist in different types of organisations and enterprises both within the private and public sectors.
