English Language Requirements
Applicant who is not EU/EEA-citizen:
If you are not an EU/EEA-citizen and you are applying with a non-Finnish certificate you must provide proof of your English language skills to Arcada by 24 February 2012.
The minimum language skills requirements
IELTS academic level score 6.0,
TOEFL score 550 for the paper-based test, 79-80 for the internet -based test,
Grade C in the Finnish Matriculation examination in advanced level English, or
Skills level 4 in English in the National Certificate of Language Proficiency (requires skills in Finnish/Swedish)
Both TOEFL and IELTS test results are valid for two years. Your IELTS/TOEFL score is valid in the 2012 application round if the test was taken on 9 January 2010 onwards. TOEFL score results are only accepted if they are sent directly from the Educational Testing Service. Arcada's TOEFL code is 5724.
The National certificate of Language Proficiency does not have a set date of validity.

In addition, upper secondary level school education in English completed in Great Britain, Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand or a Bachelor's or Master's degree completed in English in one of these countries, is also accepted as a demonstration of sufficient English language skills.
A completed Bachelor's or Master's degree conducted in English in a EU/EEA-country is also accepted as proof of sufficient English language skills. Applicant must send in documents proving sufficient skills in English by the set deadline.
Applicant who is EU/EEA-citizen:
Your English language level will be tested in the entrance exam.
You can be exempted from the language test by meeting the criteria above. Copies of the language certificates mentioned above must arrive at Arcada by 24 February 2012 at 4.15 pm Finnish time. Please note that the some entrance exams may include a compulsory language test.
