The Arcada Foundation
Founded: 12.09.1930, inserted in the register of foundations on 20.03.1931, originally to maintain Helsinki University of Technology. Organisation number: 0200099-5.
According to the statutes, the foundation is assigned to embrace education in Swedish at a level of university of applied sciences in Finland. The main purpose of the Arcada Foundation is to maintain Arcada. The fields of education represented are defined as follows: Technology, Communication and Transport, Culture, Tourism, Catering and Domestic Services, Social sciences, Business and Administration and Social services, Health and Sports as well as other sectors of education.
Organisation
According to the statutes, the affairs of the foundation are run by a board of the foundation and a board of administration. The Board of Administration completes itself when needed and appoints the Board of Administration to run the affairs of the foundation. The foundation also appoints the President, who is automatically a board member.
The foundation supervises Arcada by:
- providing the strategy and other long-term plans
- establishing the annual budget and the business plan
- employing the rector and other members of the management group of the university of applied sciences
- appointing the members of the board
- establishing instructions and regulations
